Shamans wouldn’t even call themselves shamans

Hello again!

On my previous blog post, we talked about what shamanism is.

As I continue to journey for myself and others, many understandings have become clearer. There are so many branches of shamanism. “Shamanism” is an umbrella term for many branches of the practice. This is why some people would say “A shaman wouldn’t even call themselves a shaman”. Personally, how can one understand the depth of this healing with one term? Using the term shamanism is an easy way for the human mind to comprehend. We like to give labels to everything.

But understand this—all that surrounds us is frequency.

Shamanism works on different levels of frequencies and dimensions.

There are those that practice with ayahuasca, DMT, and psilocybin (psychedelics) to access these dimensions. While some find it helpful, it is not my path. Common medicinal herbs such as chamomile and lavender are actually too strong for me to drink before journeying. I honor and respect my relationship with these plants; and in doing so it helps me understand appropriate timing for use.

There are others who immerse themselves in nature to gain a deeper understanding of self and the relationship to all. This is the core of shamanism for me. One cannot just live in the higher or lower realms (Upper World—where our benevolent spiritual teachers exist & Lower World—where our power animals and plant spirits live) and expect to create change in ordinary reality (where you and I consciously live).

In other words, you can receive spiritual guidance but what is the use if you do not ground it in this reality?

The form of shamanism I was taught revealed our innate connection to the Divine. Everyone can do this.

Again, EVERYONE can do this.

Everyone has their unique medicine signature but not all are ready to accept this. Some may never actually answer this call in this lifetime... With proper training in self-protection and right relationship, one could navigate these waters to becoming whole again. There are those people who have been tapped by their ancestors to bring forth this medicine to the present moment—perhaps to heal generational traumas.

In these past months, it has become clear to me that this medicine is crucial to the evolution of humanity. So many of us are chained down by old agreements (the beliefs we’ve agreed to that no longer serve us), drained by energy leakages (rips or tears in our energy fields leaking energy or life force), and then left feeling incomplete and lost (soul loss).

As we integrate our medicine, we strengthen our energy fields and gain a greater understanding of who we truly are and where we have come from.

EDIT 11/20/20 : This blog post has been on my mind and I wanted to add to this. The word or sound, “shaman” carries many perceptions yet is linked to one common thread—healing. For my shamans out there, take ownership of your role as a shaman. It is something that I have accepted. Own your power and your place on this Earth. We are happy you are here.
